BLUEBERRY SEASON 2023 HAS COME TO AN END. thanks for a great year!

“Damn Good” Blueberries

If you haven’t added blueberry picking to your family’s annual traditions, we’d love to show you what makes it our favorite thing to do each summer! There aren’t many things more rewarding than picking a perfectly ripe blueberry and enjoying the exceptional flavor that you only get from fresh, local produce. While picking blueberries is fun for the whole family, we like to take it up a notch with food trucks, music, and outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy.

We never imagined that we’d buy a farm and make this big of a deal out of blueberries, but when John brought home 2,600 blueberry bushes in 2016, we knew we wanted to make it something our whole community could get excited about. So, plan to come hang out with us in June and July, bring your friends and family, and grab some of the best blueberries you’ll ever have! We can’t wait to see you!

DGD FARMS ROUND-UP PROGRAM

We love what we do and are so thankful to have the opportunity to give back to local nonprofit organizations that are dear to our hearts. In addition to donating a portion of our merchandise sales, we have established a Round-Up program that allows you to round your purchases to the nearest dollar amount. We match that amount and donate it at the end of the blueberry picking season.

With your generosity since 2020, we were so excited to raise over $3,500 that benefitted the Oconee Area Resource Council and the Athens Area Diaper Bank! Thank you!

The Round-Up Program is back for 2022 – We can’t wait to see how much we can raise together!

Raised Since 2020!

THE OFFICIAL BERRY PROVIDER OF BEAR HOLLOW ZOO

We are proud to have the opportunity to provide blueberries to the American Black Bears that call Bear Hollow Zoo home through our Bear-y Program. Prior to weighing your berries at the mercantile, you can donate a few in the designated berry buckets.  These berry buckets will be delivered to Bear Hollow Zoo on a regular basis throughout the season.

In addition, a portion of the proceeds from the kids’ “Berry Cool” t-shirt will be donated to the Zoo.

When does your blueberry season start?

Please head over to our facebook page for the most up to date information about blueberry season. The season typically starts near the beginning of June and ends in mid-July.

Is blueberry picking open rain or shine?

The safety of our visitors and staff is our #1 priority.  In the event of lightning, we will close until conditions are safe. Summer weather in Georgia is unpredictable at best, so we have installed our very own weather station, and you can check the weather at the farm anytime to see current weather conditions. All weather opening/closing updates will be posted to our social media accounts.

How much does it cost to pick my own blueberries?

You may bring your own bucket from home. Pick as many blueberries as you like! Once you’re finished, we will weigh them. The cost is $3.50 per pound.

We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Amex, Discover) processed through Square.

Do you offer pre-picked berries?

Pre-picked blueberries are available for purchase in clamshell containers for $8:00/each. Please contact us to check availability of pre-picked blueberries.

We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Amex, Discover) processed through Square.

Is blueberry picking appropriate for my whole family?

Blueberry picking is the perfect summer family activity! When ripe, blueberries are easy to pick, and there is no skill required. Parking is convenient to the orchard, and there are plenty of berries at all heights. Strollers are welcome and encouraged for little ones who may want shade. We don’t use pesticides on our blueberries, so you can eat them right off the bush!

Do we need to reserve a time to pick blueberries?

You do not need to reserve a time to pick blueberries. Please check our social media pages for the latest updates on weather and hours.

Do you have other goods and merchandise?

Yes! Come visit us in the Mercantile after you pick blueberries to check out our 2022 merchandise. T-shirts, hats, visors are back with expanded sizes and multiple styles!
